Why is Diwali Celebrated ?

Diwali is most popular Festival in india. Diwali is also known as Deepavali. Diwali is the biggest festival celebrated by Hindu, Jain's and Sikhs. It also called festival of victory of good over evil, victory of lights over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali celebrate during the Hindu luni-solar month Karthika.

In Diwali 2021 festival people do illuminats Diya (दिया) in front of door, decorate home, buys new cloths, bust Firecracker and many more things. People distribute Sweets to Neighbours and Relative. Sikh commonly called diwali 'bandi chhor diwas'

Days of Diwali

Preparation and Rituals of Diwali begins before some days. Diwali festival comes after 20 days of Dusshera. Typically Diwali festival begins two days before Laxmi poojan and ends 2 days after. Following are 5 days of Diwali.

Happy Diwali 2021 Festival begins with Dhanteras(धनतेरस). Dhanteras word derived from 'Dhan', which means whealth and 'Teras' Means thirteen, which is the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight of Karthik. On Dhanteras day, people cleans there Homes and Work places, install Lamps and Diyas. On the evening of dhanteras people offers prayers to laxmi maa and shree Ganesha. They also lay offering of puffed rice and batasha.

Naraka chaturdashi (नरका चतुर्दशी) is also known as choti Diwali. In choti diwali term 'choti' refers little and in Nataka chaudashi, the term 'Naraka' means "Hell" and 'chaudashi' means "fourteenth ". A mythologist said that Nataka chaudashi  a day is Krishna killed Demon (Asura) Narakasura. Shree Krishna wins over Asura Narakasura and imprisoned 16000 princess kidnapped by Narakasura.

On Narakasura chaudashi, people purchase festive foods and sweets. People starts preparing faral on this day. Shree Hanuman Pooja also perform on the second day of diwali in some parts.

Lakshmi poja (लक्ष्मी पूजन) is 3rd day of diwali and last day of dark fortnight of the lunar month. On this day people worship maa lakshami. People clean temple, homes puja grah and business places and offer prayers of maa lakshmi. After lakshami pujan, people burst Firecracker and distribute sweets to relatives and neighbours.

The day after diwali is the day of the fortnight of the luni-solar calender. Religionlly It is also called as Govardhan Puja (गोवर्धन पूजा), bali pratipad, bali padyami, and Karthik sukhle pratipadan. The story behind bali pratipada as this day shree Vishnu defeats bali. On the. South day of diwali some part of india people celebrate govardhan puja honouring the Hindu God shree krishna, who saved people from floods and incessant Rain, which is triggered by Indra angar.

Bhai dooj (भाई दूज) is the last day of Diwali festival. It also called bhau beej, bhai phonta and bhai tilak. This is very similar like Raksha Bandhan Festival, where sister ties a Rakhi on brothers hand. In Raksha Bandhan sister travels to her brother but in Bhai duj brother has to travel to meet sister.
